Esther opened Fuller’s Photography Studios in 2004 in the small East Texas town of Kirbyville. She had 20 years of owning and operating an accounting and tax preparation practice, and that was enough for her. Wanting to expand on her creative side, she began the process of learning photography and eventually opened her studio.
In the beginning, she thought she did pretty well and produced some decent work. Each year she continued to further her education and found the more she learned, the more she realized she didn’t know. And, as she continued to learn, she found her ability to produce beautiful images grew. Expanding her education took her to many places around the country where she was able to learn from the best photographic artists.
Esther has won many national and international awards for her work. But, those awards aren’t important to her. What matters is the knowledge that was gathered along the way. As she became known in the industry, she was invited to teach and also to mentor one on one. One photographer she mentored says “You have to have a tough skin, because Esther will tell you what you did wrong. But, my work today is amazingly better and now I am winning photography competitions. And, I credit it all to Esther.”
After all the years of practice and learning, Esther is ready to share. She loves to teach and coach. “When I started, I didn’t even know where to put the focus dot. And, no class or book told me either. There was so much I had to figure out on my own,” says Esther. Now, she wants to compile everything from the simple to the complicated so those she teaches don’t have the same challenges that she had.
Esther’s goal when she started her studio was to capture images that captured emotion, and in that emotion the images tell a story. Sure, we all have images where everyone looks at the camera and smiles. And, those are beautiful. But, her favorite are where you see a story or feel the emotion.
“As photographers, we are story-tellers, capturing pieces of time, preservationists of history, committing moments to eternity. We are artists. Never forget the importance of what we do.”....Esther Fuller
